trillium
Two days ago, after work, my rear window had a little frost on it. I turned on the rear defroster and drove 5 minutes home and parked in my garage. The next morning my rear window was totally fractured one one side to the other (it was even dropping peices onto my rear speaker). Is this because my window heater was too hot? BodybyFisher
This is the first time I have heard of this. Temp extremes should have no affect on auto glass, how many times have we been driving in sleet and snow with a hot defroster with no problems. Do you know if this window was ever replaced? Was the car ever in a collision that would have put stress on the rear window? trillium
Thanks for the reply. When I get the glass replaced today, I'll ask if the window goes in easily or not.
lothos
My dad's 2006 STS had a back window that shattered. The glass company guy said it's more common than you think. chazglenn3
I had the same thing happen on my previous 1999 STS. I blamed the tint film on it, but maybe it wasn't the films fault. Charles
