Check Compression Ratio? 10:3:1 or 10:1?

Hi guys im trying to figure out if my STS has the redesigned Northstar motor wth a 10:1 compression ratio and not the 10:3:1. I know the swap happend in 2000 but im not sure if my model year 2000 was actually built in 99 and has the 10:3:1 compression. Is there a easy way to tell which motor I have? Thanks alot.

If you are thinking that you have reduced power because of this change read this, it explains why the change was performed, that is for the engine to use regular fuel, and with NO loss of performance. It was done with an improved combustion chamber design. This information was put together by the guru himself, bbobynski, I found it and posted this thread. I am looking at a 2000 and newer NS and was interested in the changes

No I was more concearnd about using regular fuel or not.

Well the main reason for the compression ratio change was to allow the NS to utilize regular. I thought that post by bbobynski was quite impressive, and that the 2000 was a major evolutionary improvement.
