Poobah
My 2000 Deville has developed what feels like a slight front end wobble. It's most noticeable around 50 MPH. At higher speeds, the wobble seems less pronounced but there is a noise like the sound of driving over closely spaced pavement seams. This happens on all types of pavement. The car has also developed a slight but constant pull to the right. All four tires are inflated to 38 p.s.i. I haven't hit any curbs or done anything that I know of to disturb the steering geometry. I'm not sure where to start looking for the problem. Alignment? Tires? Wheel Bearings? Loose tie rod ends? Any ideas? Happiness is owning a Cadillac with no codes. BodybyFisher
Take a close look at your tires for bulges or damaged belts in the tread area and the side walls, don't overlook the inner side wall Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
MAC
If tires are OK, I would check for worn hub/bearing and I would also check to make sure the Control Arm bushings are not worn and the nut that secures the Control Arm rod to the frame is not loose. Ranger
My money is on the tires. Try moving the fronts to the rear and see if it changes.
Poobah
You guys were right about the tires. Two or three of the old Bridgestones were coming apart (bulges around the tread face). I put on a set of Michelin MXV4 Primacies, road force balanced and filled with nitrogen. Wow! What a difference. It rides like a Cadillac again. I have an appointment for a 4-wheel alignment in the morning. Happiness is owning a Cadillac with no codes.
