Your temps sound good, temps will be in a tighter range if you have your AC on. "normal" temp is 192 to 196 at highway speeds plus or minus. In traffic you could get up to 235. Stop and go will range about 215 to 228 or more. Make sure you coolant is changed every two years and that you use the cooling supplement tablets and that you are at least 50/50 coolant to distilled (preferrably) water. sndnappi
thank you because the reason i am asking is when i brought it home from the dealer i bought it from and turned the car off i heard bubbling and then there was a puddle of water under my car. i then added some coolant to the overflow and it hasnt happened i just keep on staring at the information display when i am driving and it drives me crazy i just want to drive it and not worry

The system HAS to hold pressure Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

Caddynut
my 4.9 fluctuates temps like that too. It concerned me when I bought it, but I figured that was the nature of the beast. After replacing that waterpump, I still can't understand how those little blades can circulate anything....amazing. 2008 BMW 328xi 2007 Chrysler Aspen 2001 Cadillac Seville STS 2000 Ford Ranger XLT1998 Mitsubishi Spyder Convertible 1996 Saturn SC-11991 Ford F-1501979 Chevrolet Caprice1968 Ford LTD1965 VW Beetle "Herbie The Love Bug Replica** 1961 VW Beetle

That is because with the AC off, the cooling fans come on about 228 and go off about 217. With the AC on, the cooling fans are commanded ON, 100% of the time and you will see lower peaks and a tighter range of coolant temps.. It should work it's way out if the valve in the cap is working correctly. I've heard that before, but just ignored it.
Dan
If nothing else works, it might help to flush out you radiator/coolant system because there is a sealant used that tends to clog the radiator when it gets old. It usually acculmulates in the coolant side tanks in the radiator.
