winterset
I have been having "issues" with my Emergency brake. I applied it yesterday, and today when I took the car out, I noticed resistance that I felt before. I knew just what it was. I checked, and my right read wheel was a little hot. (driven about 1/3 mile). I put the car in reverse, and kept pumping the emergency brake & it freed up. I took car home, applied & disabled the brake, and the release didn't pop up all the way, & the brake light stayed on. I took off the suspect wheel, & with a screwdriver as a pry, moved that spring loaded section of the brake back. When I did that, I heard a screech & thump from the front of the car near the Ebrake peddle (it released completely). My questions: 1) is there a greaseing interval for the Ebrake cable? - It has never been greased or oiled 2) anyone know if there is a place I can spray the cable with liquid rench or wd40 that will help. 3) do you guys think it's stuck on the rear caliper or at the brake side of the cable? - only the right rear got stuck, the left rear was cool. I suspect an issue at the front of the cable because of the screach it made up there, but why would one side stay applied? (I think from the back I pushed the cable back to release it) THANKS
BodybyFisher
A couple of years ago I bought replacement brake cables for my car from someone on this site, I never replaced them. If you are interested I will sell them to you for half of cost. I will pull them out and get the numbers if you are interested. There are three if I recall. Ranger
I don't think they are supposed to be lubed. If they are rusting and hanging up, I think your best bet is replacement.
