BodybyFisher
And one question again, is there anything in the Oilsystem, who hold a little Oil Pressure? Not that I know of. Let us know what the oil pressure is immediately at start up, when the lifter noise stops and when its warm, all readings at idle. BodybyFisher
This could be a bad oil pick up too. Did the rebuilding shop look at the oil pump at all? Did they test the clearances within it? By the way where are you located? Ranger
Marco, I do not believe you have an oil pressure problem. How long have these lifters been in the engine? Maybe they have not gotten all the air out of them yet and just need to be worked in for a few miles.

He have the same Problem in the past with a Chevy or a Buick he dont no at the Moment. He bought also the same Lifters as I (very Cheap Lifters 9 $ per piece SEALED POWER Part # HT2148). After that he ask and look and ask Peoples erverywhere arround, and one of them told him, buy another "GOOD" Lifters like AC Delco HL106B. The price is 26 $ (in Austria they cost over 60 $ per piece). Ok, he bought this parts, installed them, and no more noise from the Lifters. So guys, what do you think about that, I mean I buy these AC Delco Lifters and I hope I have no more noise from the Lifters!!! I ´ll do that, and let you know.. BodybyFisher
That could easily be your problem. If you decide to change them and you determine that it would be cheaper for me to buy them here and ship them to you, let me know. BodybyFisher
Marco, before we go to the extent of having me by them and ship them to you, which of course I will do if it is the best method. Check to see if www.gmotors.com will ship them to you directly. go to that site and get a quote and see if they will ship to you. In case of a wrong part number, dealing direct is the best route. We can do it by Paypal, but keep in mind that PayPal charges a percentage for cash tranfers and it can get expensive. Lets get all of the details and figure out what is the best method. Send me a PM with your address details and I will get shipping for about 3 pounds to you. Ed Hall
These hydraulic roller lifters go for $8.28 from rockauto.com I'm surprised that they sell for such a low price.
BodybyFisher
WOW, Ed, I just got a price of $30.18 each from gmotors, with shipping (to me) for 16 lifters the cost was near $500. These are roller lifters for the 4.9 you are talking about? Marco, what was wrong with the old lifters? I have never replaced a lifter. I have always taken them apart and cleaned them up, do you still have them? Ed Hall
Yeah, these were roller lifters for the 4.9. However, they were not genuine Delco. I also also would not replace lifters on these engines if I had to rebuild them. They are not a wear item.
zuzzzi
Hey Guys, please read the hole topic. The Problem are the "cheap" Lifters. I have rebuild the hole Engine, and bought the Lifters from rockauto "8 $", the AC Delco are the Lifters that buy Cadillac Dealers when they must repleaced them, and think with these Lifters I have no "noise Problem". The problem is the Oil hole from the Lifters, thats the reason why my "cheap" Lifters are loose the Oil Pressure, the hole from the cheap Lifters are bigger as the hole from the AC Delco, and also the mechanic is a litte differnt. BodybyFisher
Marco, IF you decide to clean the old lifters keep in mind that the lifter parts are MATCHED parts, keep all parts together for EACH lifter, do not mix up parts. There is really no reason to replace them unless the 'contact face' is dished, but you have rollers. Check the rollers for bearing problems and if that is OK I would disassemble them and clean them with solvent. DO NOT use any abrasives on the parts and NEVER use those sponges with the abrasive pad (what is that stuff called). Clean them up, they will be fine. Before you install them submerge them in oil and pump them where the push rod goes to prime them with oil and use assembly lube on the rollers, if the bearings are visible get some lube on them too. If you look at the lifter photo I posted early in this thread it shows the lifter body and plunger are MATCHED SETS..not to be mixed with other lifters.. see that photo.
