katydid7
HELLO - I BOUGHT A 2003 SLS IN APRIL 2007. HAVEN'T HAD ANY TROUBLE AT ALL UNTIL RECENTLY. I WILL BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 30-45 MPH AND MY CAR WILL DIE. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES NOW. I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND IT STARTS RIGHT UP. ANY SUGGESTIONS BEFORE I TAKE IT TO THE CADILLAC DEALERSHIP...
Ranger
Your problem is bad CKP (Crankshaft Position) sensors. GM had a bad supplier from 2000 - early '03. There are two. They are located above the oil filter adapter and should both be changed. If you pull the DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) you'll probably find something like P0336 - Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor A Performance P0339 - Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor Circuit Intermittent Here's how to pull the DTC's. http://www.caddyinfo.com/readingcodes.html Here's how to decipher them. http://myweb.accessus.net/~090/dtcobd2.html

BodybyFisher
Definately pull the codes. This could be crank sensor or fuel pump related. I don't think it will show in the DIC, I think you need to pull the code. The engine dies because the signal from the crank sensor dies or is intermittant and the PCM does not know its position. Thx It SHOULD set a DTC, but past experience has taught us that it does not always do so. My '02 SLS did and it never even died, just barely skipped a beat. Almost never even noticed it.
