Hi all,

I am new to the Cadillac world having just purchased a 2004 Devill DTS black with black interior, what a reat car! I am still learing how to program and operate all the bells and whistles.

1st? I thought the DTS came with the 300hp N* standard, my Vin code is 9 and my option code is L37 which according to my cadillac book (standard guide to cadillac)is the 275hp N*. My book says Vin Y option code LD8 is the 300hp N*. Is the info in the book wrong?

2nd? How do you turn on the URPA. The owners manual says there is a button on the dash near the climate controls and the radio but I sure can't find it

Any info anyone can give would be greatly appreciated. What great site this is I look forward to hearing from others on the site Thanks,

Joe :

If you have VIN 9 (i.e., the 8th digit in your VIN is 9), you have the 300 hp engine. There are some differences in the DTS exhaust system that may cause the rating to be 291 hp or some such, which isn't a noticeable difference. This motor will give you a passing surge between 60 mph and 80 mph that the 275 hp won't have. You will get an average of 1 to 2 mpg less gas mileage because part of the Touring package is a lower gear ratio. You will be running 2200 RPM at about 65 mph.

I don't have URPA but someone more knowledgeable than I will likely have something to offer. This page may help:

My '04 owner's manual says nothing about a button on the dash; probably because there is no ON/OFF button or toggle or switch.

There are two fuses involved in the operation and there are both under the rear seat cushion. One is a 10A labeled IGN 1 and the other is a 10A labeled PRK/REV. The REVERSE relay is also inolved in the ciurcuit.

URPA is what?
Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist. See my link above for how to deal with it on Tony Haukap's Cadillac how-to pages. I couldn't say more because I don't have it and have never worked with it. I learned to parallel park and back up a boat and trailer as a kid, but parallel parking has become a lost art lately. I think it's a good idea. One car, I think BMW, actually automates the parallel parking process completely, a ride you should charge passengers $1 to experience.

Lexus brags about that feature.

Thanks for the URPA info.

My '03 DHS has no on/off button for URPA. It's there and activated when in reverse. At some point they put them in front as well. I guess that would make it a UPA.
