The reason I wanted to do this is because I think we would be surprised by the results

Fuel economy is the only concern?

Get the weight out of the trunk! Lose the spare tire and jack. Do you really need that heavy tool box back there? Carpet and pad can go. Keep the gas tank below 1/2 full.

Stay out of throttle. Hook up a temporary vacuum gauge where you can see it. Practice driving with it for a week or two; just keep the vacuum level as high as possible. A raw egg under your right foot will reinforce this behaviour.

Anticipate. Do you really have to be first in line at every red light? It takes a lot of energy (fuel) to move 4,000 pounds from a dead stop; it requires much less energy to keep it rolling.

Seriously now. Tire pressure, engine tune, and driving habits are the big three variables. A tail wind is a big plus on the Interstate. :)

So far on this tank of gas I have an average MPH of ~47mph. 17.9mpg, 180 miles on the trip odo and 233miles range estimated. I should get some pics to show it lol. Obviously most of that is highway. But even through all that I still mash the pedal every now and then, its so hard not to. Thats also with AC half the time. This is SoCal so its hard to drive without it.

I didnt buy this to get hugh MPG #'s tho. Its still better than I was getting in my 88 Lesabre actually. I got this car because its smooth and has 300HP. B)
