Icons and smilies

Recommended Posts

For some reason unknown to me, the icons and smilies on this website will not appear...all I am getting are a buch of red x's. Anyone know what the problem is?

I understand you dont' see ANY smilies, but can you give me a link to a post you especially don't see smilies on?

OH and which browser and version are you using?

If you click on http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/style_emotico...fault/blink.gif for example can your browser find it? Then it might be a cache issue?

thanks

I tried that link, Bruce and it said I was not authorized to view the page. The little folder icons and smilies all are red x's everywhere I click on the forum. I am using IE 6.

Hmm, that link goes right to a public address on a remote-to-me server, so the fact that you can't access that link would explain why you can't see the smilies alright. I am not sure why you can't get to that link though.

Anyone else lost their smilies? please reply so I can get more clues which ones are missing.

Ah; then it is not related to your id here.

I would have guessed it is a DNS server setup issue on the desktop then, but since you can get to http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com, to see the main board, it seems odd you can't see the subdirectories on the same address.

Hmmmm.

Can you reboot the desktop and clear the cache and see if that helps? I know it seems unrelated, but it is always is good to start troubleshooting from a known state.

Prolly something obvious. Before when the smilies went missing they went missing for everyone (0 byte filesizes). So this is something subtle if your laptop does but your desktop does not. Are there differences in the browsers between the two, the DNS server setups, etc?

OH hey -- do you have javascript enabled on the desktop?

Instructions: http://www.apl.org/libcats/enable.html

or: http://gsaauctions.gov/brow_details/IE6instr.htm

I now it uses javascript to insert smilies, but maybe there is some relation to the display also /boggle
