93 Eldorado Trunk Pull Down Motr Switch

Matt

Recommended Posts

Hey all, hope all are well. I'm working on my Moms 93 Eldorado and it looks like she needs the Trunk Pull Down Motor Switch. A place my Dad asked for it said they would try to find a used one someware rather then getting a new one for $300.00 +. Wow that is a lot of money. I told my folks to hold off and let me research it first. So I'm looking for a place to get a price on one (aftermarket) I also am going to call a place I know that helped me in the past with an engine. Thanks for any ideas guys... (I could not figure how to edit my topic title to fix spelling error)

That's why I told my folks to stop and let me look into it. The motor will not pull the lid down any more. I wanted to check for DC power my self but they could not wait and went to a place they know of. The guy took something out of the trunk and my Dad says it was about 4" square, the guy said it's a switch and was 3 bills at least. I believe it's a case of taking advantage of older folk.

You mean it's done and paid for? Not sure if this is what you are talking about or not but gmpartsdirect has an actuator (p/n 16633850) for $205.

O No, it's not done. I'm trying to figure out what was pulled out of the trunk that was about 4" square and called a switch. Could it be a relay from oe of the relay centers? Not sure what the actuator looks like, not sure if that's what was taken out. This shop my Dad has gone to has done questionable repairs before.

Try this link and click on 11 under view item.

Ok, that doesn't work. click on the link. On the left side click collision. Scroll down to trunk and click on it. Then click on luggage lid. When that opens up, click on actuator, then the blue highlited #11 under view item to the right.

I'm getting Java Script error when trying to view the pic. I will reboot and try again. So i did a reboot and now the GM site will not come up, it is working on loading but will not. Server slow I guess. Any way I will come back in AM and see what I can do. I ran out of time tonight. Thanks for working on this for me. Good night.

There are actually 2 switches. One on the motor and one on the actual trunk lid. I ignored mine after trying to clean it a few times... well one morning I woke up with a dead battery and it turns out I smoked the motor. It kept trying to run all night. Now I just slam it as hard as i can to get it to close.. turns out that when it went, it was in the full down position... I cant remember which one tells it to go and which tells it to stop.. if you can pull the bottom switch and try a jumper you can see if the motor is bad or if it is the switch. One was like $30 and the other was $17... much less then $300. I cant remember the specifics..

Cop didn't see it, I didn't do it!

As per usual standards, you guys are the best. That info is on the money and I now can go ahead and get going on my Moms car with a better understanding. Thanks.

By the way, these switches get damaged from slamming the trunk over time from what I understand.

How many of you have had some unknowing individual slam your trunk? I loose my mind ....

I will age myself here for sure but someone slamming the trunk is somewhat like someone sliding your $500 low output moving coil cartridge with BORON cantiliver over an LP SIDEWAYS...... it always elicits the same reaction out of me, I am looking to kill someone,

Hey Mike, That is not funny I know. Some people just have no idea. I actually caught and instructed some not to slam my Moms trunk, weather or not my advice was taken is another story. Obviously if it was slammed once in front of me who knows how many other times the trunk lid had been slammd. Another thing that turns be red is someone slamming closed one of my car doors, I hate that to. Have to get to work. Take care all...
