piscator
Now and then when I accelerate between 40 mph to 60 mph I hear a popping sound that could be back firing. This is a 1997 Cad Seville SLS with the Northstar Engine. Any ideas as to why it occurs only sometimes? Thanks. Ed
Ranger
Did you have the fuel rail replaced under the recall? Are you expiriencing a misfire? Does this happen under light acceleration? Do you still have the original plug wires? If the answers are all yes, it might be time for new wires.
KHE
How many miles are on the car? It's possible that some of the plugs have lost the platinum pad on the ground electrode. I had this problem with my '96 SLS last fall. 6 of the 8 plugs were missing the platinum pad on the ground electrode. A new set of Delco plugs cured the problem. piscator
Hi, Thanks for the information. The fuel rail was replaced under GM warranty. The car has just under 75K miles and the 75K service was recently performed by the loca GM dealer here. I will have him check out the wires and plugs. Thank you, Ed
