kcd1184
Had the proverbial right turn on red after stopping and then running into the let's stop twice guy in front of me while I'm looking left to make sure of no cars fender bender. It's my fault, but g-- d--- it, it makes me mad. He said he got confused. They don't get confused about who's at fault. Anyhow, I'm off to get the Eldo back from my body guy. Just front bumper damage. Just for grins, I took it to a different place recommended by a friend for an estimate. $1500. My guy said $325 and I'll like how it looks. I'll let you know in a bit. sprucegoose
Dang, sorry to hear that Kent. I hate when people do that, I've had a couple close calls like that myself. I really am much more observant of that now, I see it happen all the time. Hope the new look is good. That is quite a difference in body shop estimates. I stopped at the body shop myself tonight... To check on the estimate of the damage on a car which my 16 yr old daughter hit with our Tahoe. $1,172 on the Escort... Tahoe, not a scratch! I guess that is one good thing about big steel bumpers, but boy do they cave in the side of a rusty ol' Ford! '09 Cadillac CTS-4 3.6 direct injection, 128 K mi. kcd1184
Picked the Eldo up. Looks good. New shiney parts on the top of the bumper and only a small scuff mark left on the lower portion of the bumper. Straight and level. Problem is, now I am getting the air conditioner warnings. Low levels, compressor off. They must have screwed something up in the air conditioner system when they were straightening out the bumper shocks. He said it took quite a bit of work to fix them. Couldn't get back to him tonight. I'll see him in the morning. I'm sure it can't be coincidence. I'm getting sick of car crap. Within the last month, I was driving our Cirrus and got rear ended. Did the Caddy bump. Ford Ranger(his, meaning mine) rear end went out so my 18 year old son was driving the newly fixed Cirrus and totaled that. He's ok, but the Cirrus is missing the first 1and1/2 feet of the car. Sun in the eyes thing. Now the air conditioning crap. Somebody cheer me up. sprucegoose
Woah, that is a load of car-crap you've had rung up on you lately... I know the feeling, had some of that myself. More-so my kids i guess. The latest was my son's Grand AM losing the head gasket, before that it was the daughters GP with the blown intake gasket that trashed the motor... The incident with with your son totalling out the Cirrus reminded me how my son totalled his first car withing 6 months. He piled into the back of someone at almost 50 mph! Not good, but he and the other woman are still alive to tell about it, and I thank God often for that. A family we know lost their 18 yr. old daughter less than 1/2 mi. from that spot about a year later... She wasn't wearing a seatbelt, and was thrown from her jeep into an oncoming car. Didn't mean to get so heavy, just needed to say that again I guess. Cars can be fixed or replaced, people are one of a kind. '09 Cadillac CTS-4 3.6 direct injection, 128 K mi.
