Northstar Head gasket repair and oil leaks: My oil leaks are too bad to drive the car farther than it takes to get the crossover pipe hot. I also have 150,000 miles and will be racing the car. The Head bolts have not yet pulled out enough to cause the head gaskets to fail. However,  the process needed to repair my oil leaks will have the engine out of the car, so most of the labor costs associated with a head gasket repair will already be in play. I've decided to save money in the long range by spending a little more now and having both jobs done at once. 

If you cannot drive your car to the repair shop, I highly recommend the U-Haul auto transport trailer. The only catch is that you must be able to climb in and out of the side window.

I chose the highly recommend Abbott's Garage in Jacksonville, Arkansas to do this repair. It is a family owned and operated business with 25 tears of experience.  They use the Cadillac dealership tools to perform this repair. One of my friends at work knows the owner personally, so I know that I left my car in good hands.

How are they going to repair the 20 head bolt threads in the block?

Did you get details on what they plan to do and replace?

Are you doing any tranny repairs/upgrades?

What did they charge if you dont mind?

I had them take many pictures of the repair job. I want to document everything. But I'm waiting on the pictures. 

It's the same repair done by dealerships. They bought all of the tooling from one that went out of business 15 years ago.

Course thread inserts and over-sized bolts. Also the improved gasket set to correct the factory defective ones.

$2400 for the job and it includes a new water pump.

I had some extra work done. More on that when I get pictures.
