airmike
In a round about way this is cady related. I was building a rotisserie for rebuilding my 69 super bee when I decided to sell it and get the xlr. Having the parts for a 1/3 built rotisserie laying around came in handy. I used the long ram jack, and engine stand and some spare tubing, I got the bright idea. So, here it is. It will never be mistaken for a factory built one, but I bet it works, and will find out soon. engine stand adapted jack added finished with top piece from a floor jack adaption and making sure it will reach the future guinea pig
KHE
Very nice! What car are you going to pull the transmission? Kevin '93 Fleetwood Brougham '05 Deville '04 Deville 2013 Silverado Z71
James Woods
Looks great to me. I bet with that base assembly it'll be a lot sturdier and not as tippy as a "factory built" trans jack.
airmike
Thanks for the aproval. I mounted it on the engine stand so that it is centered and removable, so I can still use the stand for engines. The trans am has a bad pilot bearing. A $15-$20 bearing. Oh well. About 4 years ago I replaced entire clutch assembly so I wouldn't need to worry/redo it any time soon. It had just over 100,000 miles then, now 145,000. Truthfully the clutch was still in good shape then, but you know after all that work you don't want to "not" replace. This time it will get only the pilot bearing there, but I have been reading that the input shaft bearing is a likely culprit for pilot bearing failure, so a peek inside the tranny too. I will likely replace the rear main seal at this time too. It doesn't leak a lot, but should be easy at that point, and I can't stand the smell of oil burning on the exhaust. This is my only manual transmission car anymore and I love shifting. Wish the xlr did.

KHE
Looks like a BorgWarner T-56F trans. I worked on the engineering team for that mechanism back in the late 80's. It's been 25 years since I worked with the BorgWarner team in Muncie, Indiana on that shift mechanism.
