2001 Seville STS Staibility Error

Recommended Posts

Hi all, need some help please.

Wife was driving the 2001 STS, about 2 -3 weeks ago when she called and said when she started the car a "Stability System error was displayed in the drivers display, and that the ABS light was on, traction light was on.

She came on home and when ii went out and started the car there was no error display or lights on.

Pulled codes and got the following codes

C 1214 History

C 1248 History

No current codes.

It has happened one other time with her since then,

Any help with the codes would be great.

Thanks so much,

John

....

C 1214 History

C 1248 History

No current codes.

There was more information available on the DIC than your bride noticed or remembered.

C1214 - System Relay Contact or Coil Circuit Open

This code refers to the EBTCM relay circuit.

If you are a DIY sort of person, you can inspect the EBTCM to chassis connector and wire harness for obvious damage and the connector pins for corrosion/oxidation.

Also be 100% certain the EBTCM chassis ground wire has a bright shiny connection the frame of the cradle. Star washers can be your friends.

C1248 - EBCM Turned the Red Brake Warning Indicator On

Repair the C1214 code and C1248 will go away.

Thanks for the reply, you are more than likley right, my wife would miss a lot of info in the drivers display.

I have not had this happen to me yet, My first thought was a bad or corrorded ground, since this is an intermittant problem.

I do not have a manual for this model yet, Where is the EBTCM located on this model?

Thanks

John

steering wheel position sensor on the bottom of the steering column. The EBTCM can be removed and sent out for repair for the 1214, 1248.
