BOB W.
Went to cadillac dealer this am, for LOF.They said the front brakes needed new pads before long. I asked them the price to replace them ,and they said about $250.00. I said that seemed kind of high. I asked, if I could get the pads at NAPA and do it myself. They said the the pads would work, but the sensors that GM puts in are diffent and I could not get the sensors to work right. He said the dash lights for the brakes wood stay on. I only have 26000 miles on the car ,and the front brakes are bad. I had a 97 and and had the orignal brakes on it when I got rid of it.Which way should I go ? adallak
1. Did you see your front pads? Wre they really that bad? 2. For 250 you can buy excellent ceramic pads and probably new rotors as well. 3. If you are mechanically inclined you'll do the job without "lights on dash" or whatever BS they gave. The saddest thing in life is wasted talent
Dasher
Wow! 25k huh? People say I have a heavy foot but I didn't change the brakes until 81k on my 2000STS. I don't think I'd do anything until your DIC tells you to change the brake pads. That's why they have the sensors.
Ranger
http://www.rockauto.com/ has brake pads for $18 -$44 (A/C Delco) for your car. I would assume the Delco's are OEM. Wear sensors (A/C Delco) $12 - $18 if they need to be replaced.
