smelly vents

need some help with my 96 deville, seems that lately a fuel smell has been coming out of the vents when i drive. hasnt had the smell in the past and has me puzzled. check for any fuel leaks and cant find any. smell goes away a bit when I press the recycle button........any suggestions anyone. going down the road to oklahoma for the holiday and want it fixed before I hit the road.

If you haven't had your fuel rail replaced yet that is likely the problem. The intake vent is at the base of the windshield and would likely pick up leaking fuel vapors from under the hood. Switching over to recirc would probably stop the smell as that recirculates the air inside the car without drawing in outside air. Get this fixed under the recall before your trip.
