Scottike
I had to jump start this car after a dead battery (old age, and now replaced). when this happened, the instrument cluster died. I checked the fuses in the trunk and all look good, is there anything else to check, relays, fusible links, etc. or did the jump start kill the cluster? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. st8w8
Just had the same problem with mine. Check to see if there are any more fuses labeled IPC. If no other fuses are blown relating to the IPC, this probably means you need a new one. They're pretty cheap at the junk yard($30 to $80) compared to $300. It has to be from the same year though and you might have to have your keys reprogrammed and your mileage might not be right. I lucked out, got one for $40 worked just fine with no key programming and mileage is right.
Scottike
Thanks for the tip, I'll check for fuses labeled IPC. thank's also for the wrecking yard info & approx. prices. a friend of mine had thrown out an $800.00 figure for replacement, but I was guessing that was shop retail. At less than $100 for parts it's well worth the effort. By mileage, did you mean the Speedo or the fuel gauge/mpg/dte?

BodybyFisher
Is it possible that the jumper cables were reversed even for a split second? This is the reason, I never jump my cars. Try disconnecting the battery again, the negative side and see what happens when you reconnect. Scottike
No, the cables weren't reversed. I replaced the battery after the jump start, so a disconnect/reconnect was done when the new battery was installed. At the time of the jump, the cluster came on when the key was in the "run" position, but died and never came back when the engine was started.
