davetrouble
I have a 2003 DeVille 50k which has begun throwing p0741 for the last 30 days or so. First I brought it to autozone to read the code, then i borrowed my friends pocketscaner and cleared the code and hoped for the best. after about 2 weeks it came back so i topped off the aft with about 1/2 qt of dexIII. then i cleared the code and hoped for the best. after about 2 weeks it came back so i bought an autoscan cp9180 and read out the freeze data. TROUB CODE P0741 ABSLT TPS % 17.6 ENG SPEED RPM 1723 CALC LOAD % 12.5 MAF FLOW GR/SE 37.77 MAP KPA 79 COOLANT F 203 IAT F 41 IGN ADVANCE DE 25.5 SECOND AIR ATMOS ST FTRM1 % 0.8 LT FTRM1 % 4.6 ST FTRM2 % 3.1 LT FTRM2 % 1.5 ST FTRM3 % -96.7 LT FTRM3 % -99.3 ST FTRM4 % -3.4 LT FTRM4 % 47.6 VEH SPEED MPH 52 FUEL SYS 1 CLSD FUEL SYS 2 CLSD then i set the cp9180 to record data at the next event. after 2 cold start (5mi town/5mi highway) drive cycles the p0741 showed up as pending. after 4 cold start cycles i still have p0741 pending and catlyst and evap monitors as incomplete. i suppose after a few more drive cycles the p0741 will probably mature to current and i should get many frames of data surrounding the failure. the car has no obvious driveability problems. my hope is to resolve problem before my state inspection is due in july without having to do any extra curricular activity. Thanks for any ideas/advice
BodybyFisher
The next time it is current. Drive your car at 60, keep your right foot on the gas, and gently tap the brake, watch the tach. If the TCC is engaged and disengages due to the brake pedal the RPMs will rise, If the TCC is not engaged already, tapping the brake will not affect the RPMs. Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
Ranger
You don't need any ecternal scanners to pull the codes. You can do it yourself from the DIC. If you are getting a P0741 & P1860 code, then the problem is the TCC solenoid. If you get only the P0741 it's a turbine shaft seal. I'm having the same problem myself. Here's a good explanation. http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/northstar-performance-technical-discussion/149834-information-p0741-p1860-1998-a.html
