EGR stack pipes ,one loose, 1 rigid?

Recommended Posts

Hello, a quick question.

The 92 Eldorado has two EGR stack pipes inside the throttle body.

One toward the back is rigid and does not move when handled.

The one toward the front of the car does rotate when handled and sits non-fixated(handled via the opened throttle plates).

That one seems to have a 'collar' at it's base.

Normal?

I'm curoius now because recently I cleaned the area and just took this observation for granted.

Thank you !!

That is normal, they move, must rod them out and make sure they are clear.

If you have your EGR off, those 2 pipes lead to the EGR, you can use compressed air, wire brushes and carb cleaner to clean them out good.

Thanks BodybyFisher, its good to be sure. My next step is to remove the EGR and clean that and the manifold and expel the debri with air.

Have a good Thanksgiving !

You have a good TG also!

It is not necessary to pull the EGR to clean those tubes, but you can get deeper if you do, put a rag over the outlet when you blow it with compressed air

Simply rodding them out cleans those tubes fine, we have that from a Northstar engineer

But if you are pulling the EGR anyway to clean it, deep cleaning it is great

Make sure you have a new EGR gasket
