torque converter advice

I have a 00 DHS with 280000 miles. I am going to replace the engine and try to find a fairly low mileage transmission from a salvage yard. Is ot a good idea to get the converter that was on the salvage tranny, go rebuilt or go new. Suggestions on reputable builders or rebuilders would be appreciated as well.

Hey Ranger,

I just thought I would try this forum as well but you have already helped me on the other one on deciding whether or not to rebuild my tranny. You probably remember now that I am getting an engine from Jake because of the mileage but yesterday it overheated so I did another block test and now it has a blown head gasket, never turned yellow before. Anyway, I would appreciate your and any one else's thoughts about the torque converter question.

Don't know if this will help, but I need to do head gaskets on my 96 and plan to replace my converter, I found this site, called them and found a local distributor by me
