Brake Fluid Leak.....again.

A while back I had posted that my brake warning light came on. I refilled the canister and all was fine for about 2~3 weeks.

Well, the light came on again, so I refilled it again, but this time, I decided to watch it for leaks.

Finally spotted the general area of this leak this morning which is by the rear, driver side wheel but it seemed to be coming from under the body somewhere, not the wheel.

Took it to the mechanic this morning, there's a differential valve waaaaaaaay up inside the body over the rear wheel that's leaking. Mechanic says he sees this problem on Lincolns a lot but has never seen it on a Cadillac. He has to order the part and the car will get repaired next week. He said that it looks like the gas tank has to be dropped.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Oh well.... :(

EDIT: By the way, will this leaking brake fluid damage anything under the car that's it's dripping on?

If you really want to make people safe drivers again then simply remove all the safety features from cars. No more seat belts, ABS brakes, traction control, air bags or stability control. No more anything. You'll see how quickly people will slow down and once again learn to drive like "normal" humans.

on my car it is quite accessable. i do not think he is going to drop the tank.

it is actually proprtional valve (two of them) and I cannot imagie the part going south. The junction with brake line fitting may leak and nothing more. no need to replace whole part. this is just my opinion, the mechanic may have other considerations.

The saddest thing in life is wasted talent

Well, I'll see what happens.

Just got back from the mechanic. Took one hour and no need to drop the tank. $126 was the total charge.

All's well again. :)
