davidson5125
I have rusted leaking brake lines in the rear of my 92 deville this is just a beater car as I have a 99 eldorado with a blown engine have it removed and rebuilding in the mean time I am trying to repair my brakes as cheap as possible and I was wondering if 3/16 compression fittings are safe to use on brake lines when joining new line to original line on car

dgaouette
BBF is exactly right, use a double flare. You can use a compression fitting on a yard truck and get away with it but don't push your luck. You can get a flaring tool free at autozone loaner tool and in line fittings to do the job right. Even buying the tool is only 20 bucks or so. After all, you may be following one of us and we would perfer you stop when we stop!! Also beware that if you replace back to the ABS unit you will need a bubble flare, not a double flare. Good luck!
