jtc
I have a 2000 deville with 80k, this year has a seam in the block. I put dye in the coolant and used a uv light to find the leak its leaking from the seam in the block. 1 has anybody fixed this with sealers and 2 would i have to take the engine out to put new gasket
KHE
I don't recall any coolant leaks at the block on this board before. How bad is the leak? Are you sure it is not leaking from another place and dripping on the block? Can you describe the area where you notice the leak? Back or front of the engine, etc. Kevin '93 Fleetwood Brougham '05 Deville '04 Deville 2013 Silverado Z71
jtc
I used tracerline dye in the coolant and you shine a uv light on the engine and it shows floresant color at leak points the 2000 4.6 has a seam mid engine block.

The case half seal that you are referring to is not in the coolant circulation area. When the seal goes bad, it will seep oil but not coolant. jtc
Thats a good point you made the coolant must be driping and running along that seam i'm going to unbolt some stuff to get better look and add more dye and find this sucker
jtc
I added more dye and looked at it again its coming from a seam on the block about 2 inches above the oil pan on the side of the motor toward the front right of the car
jtc
I flushed all coolant and put k&W block sealer and water in and it stoped leaking but for how long!
Ranger
Like Kevin said, there is NO coolant at the "seam" (halfcase). Your leak is coming from above.
