I looked in the manual and it looks like there are a couple of plastic pieces that look like the letter "h" that hold the bottom of the panel. I didn't see these when I took a quick look. There is a dealer bulletin on this and attached is an old post by Logan on this. Cadillac: 1993 SLS There is a repair procedure for the door hooks. Bulletin 02-08-64-002 is for Sevilles, Eldos, and Devilles. Basically there is a repair kit available. It is Kent-Moore kit J42983. You may have to contact Kent-Moore directly to get it. It looks expensive as it comes in its own plastic box and has a bunch of replacement hooks. Logan www.logandiagnostic.com Cheers! Poobah Posted June 6, 2004 Report Share Posted June 6, 2004 A previous owner repaired one of my door panels by making new hooks from strips of heavy gage sheet metal and pop-riveting them to the remaining stumps of the original plastic hooks. If you are going to take the interior panel off the door, be aware that there is a cleverly hidden screw under the upper rear corner of the carpet panel. Garlicdude Posted June 13, 2004 Author Report Share Posted June 13, 2004 Fixed my loose door panel. Bought some steel "L" shaped pieces from the Caddy dealer, he said they were the right ones. I couldn't see how to make them work. Ended up fabricating some pieces out of delrin and pinning them in place. Seems to be working fine. The benefits of owning your own machine shop! rmac-etc Posted June 13, 2004 Report Share Posted June 13, 2004 mine came loose at the bottom outboard corner, and I was able to find a spot where I could drill a hole though the door panel into steel and put a self tapping screw through with a fender washer being careful not to overtighten, just hold the panel firm. the interior is black so I painted the screw and washer black as well, it has held tight for nearly 3 yrs, and is pretty much invisible. I bet its a $200 repair kit......but I bet a new door panel is $6-700. You may want to try calling your local dealer to see if he will sell you some of the repair clips from his kit. Hook-style retainers (1) are used to retain the door trim panels on the vehicles listed above. To avoid retainer hook breakage, it is important to observe the proper removal procedure. Refer to the appropriate removal procedure in this bulletin. To provide door trim panel retaining hook repair information. If retainer hook breakage does occur, the hook(s) can be repaired with the Kent-Moore Kit J 42983. The kit contains hooks, adhesive, templates, carbide bits and instructions. 1994-1999 DeVille Trim Panel Replacement-RH Front Door (LH Similar) Tools Required J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover For Upper Trim Panel Retainer ONLY Removal Procedure Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in the SIR sub-section of the Service Manual. Caution Striking the vehicle near the side air bag impact sensor can cause an air bag deployment if the ignition switch is not OFF. To help avoid personal injury and damage to the vehicle from a deployment, always turn the ignition switch to OFF during body repairs. Remove the power window switch assembly (7). Place protective tape between the forward edge of the power window switch assembly and the door trim panel (9). Important In order to avoid damage, the retention spring clip must be fully disengaged prior to removal of the power window switch assembly. Between the forward edge of the power window switch assembly and the door trim panel (9), carefully insert a plastic trim tool far enough to depress and disengage the switch plate retention spring clip. Use the plastic trim tool in one hand to gently pry the forward edge of the power window switch assembly upward. Use the other hand to grasp and pull the switch assembly from the door trim panel. Disconnect the electrical connectors (8). Remove the inside door handle trim plate/bezel (1). Between the top edge of the inside door handle trim plate/bezel and the door trim panel (3), carefully insert the plastic trim tool and gently pry the inside door handle trim plate/bezel outward far enough to disengage the retaining clips.
