stranga3781
I replaced the reserve tank on my 99 deville and in the process I took the battery out. When I replaced the tank my coolant temp is a lot higher than normal. It stays around 190 and higher. Is there anyway I can reset the temperature gauge so that my level is normal again. At one point when I first changed the reserve tank my temperature read 266 degrees. I need some help.
BodybyFisher
You need to make sure that you get the air out. There is a purge line that starts at the throttle body, crosses the engine and goes into the tank on the top. When the engine is cold and there is NO pressure in the cooling system, start the car, and remove that rubber hose at the top of the tank and you should see coolant coming out of the hose. Do that test and come back and let use know, if there is no coolant coming out, you have a clogged "bolt with a hole in it" The other thing to look at is your thermostat, it could have caused your tank to blow. At 266, you should just replace the thermostat. Ranger
205-215 is normal. 190 is way too cool. 266 on the other hand, is down right scary.

Question to Stranga, what are your temps specifically? In stop and go and on the highway, as Ranger noted you might not have a problem Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
