BodybyFisher
There is an inspection cover in your wheel well that you take off to get at your alternator easier. I removed mine, its not as bad as it seems. If you really want to get nutty, pull the radiator out to give yourself some room, but its not necessary. There is an inspection cover across the bottom of the car in front of the engine carriage, its called an air deflector, take that off to get some room also. DO NOT USE A CHEAPO ALTERNATOR, USE AN AC DELCO PREFERABLY, we have seen problems with aftermarket alternators Here is a procedure from the manual, but, DO NOT remove the AC condenser Generator Replacement Removal Procedure Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure . Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical. Remove the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling. Remove the air conditioning condenser. Refer to Condenser Replacement in HVAC Systems with A/C Manual. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle . Disconnect the coolant outlet hose (1) from the generator. Disconnect the coolant inlet hose (1) from the generator. Disconnect the following electrical connections from the generator: Regulator Battery output Heated windshield (if equipped). Remove the generator fasteners from the generator. Remove the generator from the vehicle. BodybyFisher
No remove the radiator, it will help, DON'T remove the AC condenser... BodybyFisher
cool i ll try that i have one more question do i need to take the fans out completely or can i just move them once th rad is out thanks in advance dms The fans are cake to take out, two bolts each, disconnect the electrical connector and pull them up. If I am not mistaken, you WILL have to remove them to get the radiator out. The fans have a fork that fits into a rubber keyhole at the bottom. Pull them, you want as much room as you can get.. MAC
Don't need to take the radiator out. Just move the fan and maneuver it and drop it out from underneath. Use a piece of cardboard or Luann board to protect the radiator. Going through the wheel well won't work either.

Those hoses according to the photos in the manual pull off. Here is a photo. One bolt hits up against the manifold, did you back that bolt out? Someone else mentioned that above. I will check my manual for the water cooled info.. I posted all of the info above for the procedure here is a photo Here is another view of the area Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
