basod2002
I drove the caddy to store and back, started/stopped and returned home. Went to start it yesterday morning- nothing no lights etc. Assume shorted cell(s) posts under hood maybe 2-3VDC. Had no indicators driving it home that alternator had issues. I'm trying to get the seat out and its killing me!!! I got the 4 clips off seat back and realized the two 18mm bolts need removed through the seat belt holes. One bolt won't budge until i get impact driver on it. Any help on if I'm taking it apart right???
BodybyFisher
Maybe I am missing something here, but if you are trying to get to the battery, its under the seat, I think the seat just lifts up Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

basod2002
My manual says remove seat back then press clips on either side in and pull seat bottom up and out. This seat doesn't appear to want to come out that easily thats why I'm asking
BodybyFisher
I do not believe that removal of the seat back is necessary to get to the battery, at least I have NEVER heard that before. Think of the PROBLEMS with that, you break down and need a jump, you need to take half the car apart to get to the battery?, not likely I think you just PULL the seat bottom UPWARD, Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

basod2002
yes the two tabs behind seat don't seem to be releasing, and I've tried pulling the from of the seat no luck. The 2 bolts that apear to hold the seat bock down are accessed through the belt latch penetrations. Then i hope the seat bottom will release and allow access to battery. Just wondering if I'm doing more than needed. appreciate the help
BodybyFisher
Ok here is the method to remove the seat from the 2001 manual 2001 Cadillac Seville -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Seat Cushion Replacement - Rear Removal Procedure Push in and up on the front of the rear seat cushion. Lift up and out on the seat cushion. Disconnect heated seat electrical connectors (if equipped). Remove the rear seat cushion from the vehicle. NO NEED to remove the SEAT BACK at all, I am curious, what manual are you using? Thanks guys Listen, when you get home, put the book in an open area of your yard, gather a bunch of kindling and sticks and lay it over the book, light the book with a match, Haynes 'manuals' make great fire starter, other than that, they are useless.
