lothos
When I got my ACDelco plug wires it came with dielectric grease and the instructions said to use a q-tip and apply a small amount of grease to the plug wires, which I did. I used almost the entire packet of grease for the 16 connections. I have since read on here that you don't need it and it may cause problems. Can anyone explain this? Should I take a clean q-tip and try to wipe off any extra dielectric grease? Could I wipe off too much? I pulled two of the front wires off and looked in the boot and didn't see any gobs of grease. Thanks for the help guys! P.S. I won an ebay auction for a set of FSM's for my car, only 25 bucks... should be here in a couple weeks. Hopefully that'll cut down on the questions! jasper60103
I have since read on here that you don't need it and it may cause problems. Can anyone explain this? Dielectric grease is non-conductive, meaning its doesn't enhance the flow of electricity. That could be the reason behind that statement. Its designed to keep moisture out. It really shouldn't be applied to the electrical contacts. I assume you applied it mostly to the rubber walls inside the boot. If your car is running fine, I would leave it be.
