92STS
Came home last night, car was running fine. Went out this morning. it cranks but would not fire at all. Little squirt of ether and it fires then dies. Zero pressure in the fuel rail. Opened the gas cap, BIG woosh of air. Gauge says 1/4 tank of fuel. No codes. PD10- fuel pump feedback voltage=.0 Fuses checked OK Can't hear the fuel pump, but I can't say I ever heard it before. Would a fuel pump go just like that? If the regulator was bad would it return enough fuel to not build any pressure at all? Any suggestions? Thanks for the great forum.
Ranger
"Would a fuel pump go just like that?" I have seen some fuel pumps die slow agonizing deaths and others just as you discribe, sudden fatal coronaries. As Guru said, Yes it is certainly possible. 92STS
Thanks for the help. Where would the FP relay be found? There is a Haynes service manual for sale on Ebay. Are you guys familiar with this manual? Thanks again.

Ranger
I second KHE. Haynes & Chilton are usless for all but the most basic repairs and as someone once said too stiff for toilet paper.

They're too slick to be used for toilet paper... Kevin '93 Fleetwood Brougham '05 Deville '04 Deville 2013 Silverado Z71
JIMDTS
I had the same problem a few years ago and it was the fuel pump. I also had a fuel pump die a slow death that the car would run fine and just cut out while driving. Good Luck Jim
mike98c
Even worse than incomplete info. the haynes manual (no caps. for them) ended up in the trash as several pieces of info. were wrong. A subscription to Alldata is not a substitute for the shop manuals but I've found it to be a lot better than those semi- generic fire place starters.
