safleming72
When I was changing the spark plug wires on my 94 Deville Concours w/Northstar (of course) I noticed there is a plastic wire seperator at the front drivers side of the engine that actually houses the plug wires. Upon opening this I saw that there is a belt under it. The belt is pretty eaten up and needs to be changed but I dont know what belt to ask for. It is not part of the serpentine belt and it almost looks like it would be a timing belt because of its location but its not covered except for the black plastic cover that the plug wires are in. Any advice as to what this belt is??? Hopefully I dont sound like a complete idiot, Ive ask some other "mechanically inclined" friends and they all look as confused as I am. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
stefank
Only belt I know of in this location is the water pump drive belt. It's rather narrow, isn't it? If you replace it, check the tensioner for free movement. Stefan
eldobohica
If it is the water pump belt, replace it. Mine broke and the car started overheating.. i did not know why.. closer look, the belt broke, so i replace the belt, the thermostat and she runs like a champ... it is really easy to do. Now i need to replace the other belt.. a bit more work.. good luck
Ranger
It IS the water pump drive belt. It is driven off of the left bank intake cam.
