Brad
Good morning - Got up this morning early to get to work early and was the recipient of "Battery Not Charging" on the display. Ran codes and got IPC 1911 current. Checked out the FSM and looks like I am in for a new alternator. Anyone have experience with this code? Could it be something else? I am guessing that now that the car is 8 years old it's about time these types of parts start going. Appreciate any help. PAUL T
I would check the battery connections for corrosion and maybe tighten them up. Also check the connections to the altenator.
Cadillac Jim
B1911 Generator L-Terminal Problem That looks like an intermittent, which is more likely a battery cable problem. You don't hear about many alternator problems unless the car has sustained abuse such as jumper cables hooked up backwards, 24 Volt fast-charge while the battery is in the car, damage from road debris, etc. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars.
