chriscisme
so im FINALLY going to be buying my new starter and i was looking and you can choosse between a reduction type starter or non-reduction type starter....the reduction starter is 250 and the non-reduction starter is 110, i really hope i can use the non reduction type starter so my question is can i use the non reduction type starter or what why is the reduction starter better? ALSO, when buying a new ignition switch do i get it with or without console shift? ALSO, why is the cadillac ignition switch under the steering column and not in the steering column like most cars?, isnt the igniton switch what you put the key into? BodybyFisher
Check http://www.rockauto.com The PG-260 starter motor features small permanent magnets mounted inside the field frame and a planetary gear reduction mechanism between the armature and drive. A permanent magnet gear reduction motor is about half the weight and size of a field coil motor having the same cranking performance. Northstar
You need the ignition switch with the console shift because you have the Concours, the console is the floor shifter. The thing you put the key into is the ignition LOCK, the switch is down the steering column under the dash.
zonie77
ALSO, why is the cadillac ignition switch under the steering column and not in the steering column like most cars?, isnt the igniton switch what you put the key into? The switch on most "older" cars (more than a couple of years old) is usually on the outside of the column, under the dash. Very new cars seem to be putting them inside the column.
