That location is directly out of the SI information, but if you were facing the front of the engine where the pulleys are that would be the left rear no?

Mike,

I am thinking in terms of looking at the engine in the direction it is facing. Being a transverse mounted engine the front of it is facing the passenger side, thus the rear of the engine is the drivers side and the right side of the engine is the firewall side (where the EGR is located). So if I am correct, the RR would be the drivers side firewall corner, LR would be the drivers side headlight corner, RF would be the passenger side firewall corner and LF would be the passenger side headlight corner. The view would be looking at the engine from over the drivers side fender. Wouldn't you agree?

I hear you, but, if you look at the photo that I posted above, the circle is near the EGR valve on the driver side rear.. They stated left rear corner, not me, I was only suggesting what they might have been thinking. BUT, you are RIGHT, look at that picture I posted from the SI info, look at where the ARROW is pointing.... FORWARD.... so based on that photo I also would say Right Rear, good pick up Ranger, look at this ECT location below:

They forgot to print "compartment" as in left rear engine compartment. If you notice, all the other component locations say xx of the engine compartment.

Ah as viewed from the drivers seat, now it makes sense!
