98deville
On the rear speakers am I going to have to drill some holes to screw down the speakers? On the factory speakers they just had clips on the back that held them in place.
BodybyFisher
Yes, I needed to drill holes with my dremel tool to fit new speakers, see my speaker replacement thread here: http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?sho...amp;hl=speakers Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

BodybyFisher
The factory OEM speakers are 4 ohm, what is the impedance of your new speakers, my Cerwin Vegas were 4 ohm. Paul_tunney@hotmail.com
i have the bose system and when i had my deck installed in my 96 sts i had to buy a conversion box for it that i needed to make the deck work and i dont think i would trade my bose system for anything except a pair of focal's but they are way to expensive
BodybyFisher
Focal's are in my B&W DM2000 Studio Monitors, that is a very exotic speaker that were $2400 twenty years ago, mine have kevlar cones. http://www.focal-america.com/Index.html I think my B&W has a speaker similar to the K2 Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
Ed Hall
I got the speakers on and they sound worse than the factory ones. they sound like they have alot of bass...just ugly... What brand of speakers did you put in? Also make sure the cavity that the the speaker sits in is completely sealed off.

JackH
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=2569444 Bose 6X9 rear speakers are always less than an ohm impedance. The voice coil impedance plays a very important part in the compensation/equalizing circuit of the amp. By using a 4 ohm speaker the C/E circuit moves the response curve out of its normal position, thus emphasizing the low frequencies as you have stated. I don't know of any successful use of a 4 ohm speaker in a Bose system. The modifications to the amp are too daunting and not really worth it. BodybyFisher
some pioneer 6x9's that they sell at wal-mart.. Do you have the BOSE system or the NON BOSE system? I assumed you had the NON BOSE system. I would NOT attempt to fool around with the bose system other to replace the speakers with OEM My speakers were from a NON BOSE system and they were 4 ohm Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
98deville
It's a non bose system. I just figured out that when I leave one speaker unhooked the other one sounds alot better and louder, but when I go to hook them both up they seem to sound like shh....So right now I just have one of the speakers hooked up...
