Hi ya doin ladies and gentalmen, i have a 2001 base model sedan deville and the check engine light keeps coming on. I am able to clear the codes and the light stays off for a lil while and comes back. i took it to the dealer and they claimed they could'nt find any thing wrong with it and told me my remote starter might be causing the issue since its wired into the ignition harness. i disconnected the power form it and still the light comes on. Has anyone else had a remote start installed and had this problem. The codes that keep appearing are (PCM codes po 171, po 174, po 741, p1860, and u1192.) also (IPC code u 1192). If anyone can sheid some light on the problem i would greatly appreiciate it cause its driving me crazy...............

P0171 - Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 1

P0174 - Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 2

I think the 01 has a rubber intake manifold plenum that can crack, check that for the above codes. Do a search I have posted photos of this plenum.

P0741 - TCC System Stuck Off

This is a common problem, your torque converter clutch is not engaging, this will cause a drop in gas mileage. This typically is a bad solenoid in your tranny although it could also be a bad torque converter. There is a lot of info on this if you do a search.

As far as the remote starter, the dealer is correct, it can cause problems, and you disconnecting the power won't matter, remove it altogether. HOWEVER, the remote starter is NOT likely causing the codes you are experiencing above. But I would remove it anyway.

The 171 and 174 is most likely a bad rubber plenum boot. They crack at the bottom where intake PCV and EGR juices can collect.

1860 causes 0741. Could very likely be a bad TCC solenoid.
