winterset
Much of the chrome is really metal foil covered in plastic. Unfortunately, it's still vulnerable to environmental contaminants, and the best way to protect it is to keep it dry as much as you can. This can even involve drying it after a rainfall. KHE
The lower panels on the Fleetwoods are actually stainless steel with a clear coat. I treat it like the paint on the rest of the car. The chrome "pinstripe" moldings near the tops of the fenders are vacuum metalized plastic and are sort of low quality in my opinion. They will blister - I had to replace all four of mine. They are not available anymore from GM. It's strange as the moldings on the doors are fine - it was just the ones at the front and rear (especially the rears) that had the bubbling.
