replacing rear shock

Left rear shock leaking. Manual says to replace both rears at the same time. Will I have problems if I don't?

I have never known the maual to lie.

How long until the still 'good' shock fails too?

I would think the 'good' shock has changed over time and miles.

The system is probably designed to act a certain way with two identical shocks.

I would think considerig the complexity of the system, and the consequences if the system

doesn't perform up to par with an extreme manuver required to save your life!

my .02

with two shocks comes peace of mind.

We have had this discussion before, and I have actually gotten into a discussion with someone about this issue if you go back and do a search (under Scotty). Shocks wear out at the same rate, if you need to replace one the other is not far behind, furthermore, struts dampening capacity decreases over time, if you replace one, one will dampen stronger than the other creating a potential handling problem or an imbalance.
