ACV1081
Just as the title reads... I have a source on a 4T80E, but didn't know if the trans was interchangeable. Would I have to change the wiring harness? Please advise. Thanks in advance! Adam
BodybyFisher
I would say it's doubtful. I don't know what the differential ratios are but the STS has a specific ratio that the PCM 'looks' for the wrong ratio will cause problems. You can not use an SLS tranny in an STS as the ratios are different. Do a lot of research before you install it. I appreciate the insight you guys... I found that the SLS ratio was different and kind of got worried, but I'll do some more looking and if anyone has any info please chime in. Hard to believe it would be that different internally, but who knows I guess. Thanks again! Adam
BodybyFisher
I doubt it's different internally, its the final drive ratio that is different. I kind of feel that the Aurora would have the SLS ratio. I think if the Aurora and the STS have the same gear ratio it would be OK..assuming that the wiring/electrical connectors/bolt patterns and cooler line ports are identical. OynxSTS
Like the Seville the Aurora was offered with two different drive ratios. If the donor Aurora has the Autobahn package, which included V rated P235/60R16 (check the door sticker) tires it has a 3.71:1 axle ratio. The standard Aurora had an axle ratio of 3.48:1 which is unique to this car and won't work. Your STS has a drive ratio of 3:71:1 so... There is a chance it will fit and will work...
