4.9 L distributor problem

EldoGuy

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

The engine of my beloved 4.9 Eldorado stalled and I am not able to start it again.

I have following error codes :

E012 (P012) No distributor signal

E053 (P053) Distributor signal interrupt

And:Service Engine Soon

I hope I am able to start the engine so I am able to drive it to the dealer to have it fixed

Any ideas and tips are highly appreciated !

Best Regards,

There is a connector that attaches to the bottom of the distributor by the edge of the bottom of the cap, make sure its attached and tight, the clips are on the sides, if those clips broke off, that connector can drop straight down, Mike

I have a 93 Seville with a 4.9 I had something like that happen to me just after I had a new engine installed. The so called mechanics who butchered my car and caused me months of fixing things myself broke the connector tabs off of the plug that went to my distributor. On my distributor there was no connection right at and on the outside of the distributor but it was about 12 inches down the cable. When that plug came apart I had warnings like yours. On the inside of the distributor is ware there are more connectors from the cable but these are captured inside good so they will not fall off. I had also replaced the module in the distributor, I did not have any trouble doing that so if it comes to that for you it may be easy.

I don't want you to parts replace but it sounds like the ignition module
