BodybyFisher
There is a connector that attaches to the bottom of the distributor by the edge of the bottom of the cap, make sure its attached and tight, the clips are on the sides, if those clips broke off, that connector can drop straight down, Mike Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
Matt
I have a 93 Seville with a 4.9 I had something like that happen to me just after I had a new engine installed. The so called mechanics who butchered my car and caused me months of fixing things myself broke the connector tabs off of the plug that went to my distributor. On my distributor there was no connection right at and on the outside of the distributor but it was about 12 inches down the cable. When that plug came apart I had warnings like yours. On the inside of the distributor is ware there are more connectors from the cable but these are captured inside good so they will not fall off. I had also replaced the module in the distributor, I did not have any trouble doing that so if it comes to that for you it may be easy.
EldoGuy
All connections are okay. I forgot to mention that about 10 seconds before the engine permanently died, the engine died for a second or so while driving.
