Jason15036
Heys guys, hope everyone had a merry christmas. My car has been running good lately but a little problem occurred the other day. The problem starts after the car has been driven for about 45min to and hour at stop and go driving. When I come to a stop for a light or stop sign and release my foot of the brake the car doesnt roll forward like its in nuetral, when I give it gas it does not start out in first gear its like second or third. Probaly third. I will increase of to speed slowly and get up to speed. After this symptom has occured and Im cruising say 60 if I floor it will not shift into second, only third gear. Even if i manully shift it to no second. Now sometimes when I come to a stop it will work fine and will also drop second when I reach a cruising speed, sometimes after these symptoms occur. What I've notice now if I come to a stop and I can feel it acting up I hold the brake and hit the gas to about 1200 you can feel it jump it 1st not a big jump but you can feel it. Just for kicks then I disconnected the sensor above the throttle position sensor which made the car idle at about 1000. If I disconnect the sensor after the symptoms occur when coming to a stop it will go down into first gear but you still feel it bang in. All through this no service engine soon light until I disconnect the sensor and when I plug it back in it shuts off. The car will not act up if you drive short places, and after it has occured if you let it sit a while it go back to normal until you drive a little ways. It acts like a something is not telling it to downshift or its hanging up. Does anyone have any info for this because i need to get it fixed as soon as possiable. There are no codes for me to list. But any help would be appreciated. Thank You, Jason
BodybyFisher
You need to check and report the codes here (DTC's), hold the OFF and WARMER buttons on the AC control, Mike Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
growe3
You may have a leak and finally lost enough fluid to affect the shifting. Check the transmission fluid level. Do this on a warm engine and level area. -George Drive'em like you own 'em. - ....................04 DTS............................

BodybyFisher
I believe this is related to the ABS system, check fuses and connections, the ABS light should be lit, is it?
