95SLS
A while back, I got a PO1039 message. Says it's a slow reading of the Bank 1 Sensor 2 so somehow I found out on this list that it's the one in back, by the fire wall. They said not to change it with an AUTOZONE sensor, but that's all that was available. And they were right, it did not last but about a month out of the warranty. So the kid replaced it with another AUTOZONE OX sensor and that lasted like 3 months 1 day. Thats 1 day over the warranty. BUT, the message comes and goes. What do you think? Right now it's gone. And been gone a while. And what the heck is SLOW? Do they quit all together? Am I changing the right one? Mike C
Ranger
Your changing the wrong one. Bank 1 Sensor 1 = Right bank (firewall) exhuast manifold Bank 1 Sensor 2 = Pre-cat Bank 1 Sensor 3 = Aft-cat Bank 2 Sensor 1 = left bank exhaust manifold. Sometimes they quit and some times they are slow to respond which will set a DTC.

Ranger
I got the info from the service manual. I am not sure whether they are all the same or not. I want to say that two are different. Some are heated so that they respond quicker. Logic would tell me that the pre-cat and aft-cat would be the heated ones but I am not positive. There should be different part numbers if I am correct. JimD
.... Bank 1 Sensor 1 = Right bank (firewall) exhuast manifold Bank 1 Sensor 2 = Pre-cat Bank 1 Sensor 3 = Aft-cat Bank 2 Sensor 1 = left bank exhaust manifold. Just one additional point for readers with '98 - '04 Sevilles: The Pre-cat sensor was eliminated during the '98 production cycle. My '98 was born in February and does not have the Pre-cat sensor. No, I don't know how the numerical sequence was adjusted. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE !
Ranger
Very interesting. I didn't know that. Just when you think you've got it down pat, they go and change things on you. Thanks for the clarification.
