Modding heater/AC vents to get bi-level output?

Recommended Posts

I love almost everything about my '95 DeVille 4.9, but I know especially in the winter the climate control is going to drive me crazy. As I understand it, it's factory set so the AC comes out the top vents only and the heat comes out the bottom vents only.

It's already a minor irritation because sometimes I'd like cool air on my feet. In winter, I REALLY want hot air coming out of the upper vents. I'm a pianist, and sometimes I need that to warm my hands before a gig.

Is there anyway to rig something fairly easily to get a bi-level effect, even if it has to stay that way permanently? Heck, I could even live with both AC and heat permanently coming out of the top vents only.

Thanks!

I don't have a solution for you....but that has been a pet peeve of mine for 25 years.

No way to have both dash vents and defrost at the same time.

Interestingly....the MINI with electronic HVAC can do it. Any combo of defrost, vent, and floor. Even all 3 at the same time.
