KHE Posted October 14, 2012 Report Share Posted October 14, 2012 Make sure it is the evaporator that is leaking enough to shut down the A/C. Many times the evaporator will have a microscopic leak that would take years to leak enough refrigerant to cause a loss of performance. If it is in fact the evaporator, make sure to use new o-rings at each connection and lube the O-rings with mineral refrigerant oil. A factory service manual is really needed as it will outline the procedure for you. It will also specify the amount of refrigerant oil that must be added to the new evaporator prior to installation.
