Cadillac Jim
The 1997 FSM, page 10-8-7, has a figure that shows the hinge straps bolting to the trunk lid with two bolts each. I believe that the trunk lid is the same as your 1994. Please verify that before using this information. The beginning of the R&R Rear Comportment Lid section has an important note: Anytime a rear compartment torque rod, extension spring, or hinge is removed the rear compartment lid must be supported to prevent injury or damage. The R&R is simple. To remove, there are five steps. To replace, there are six. REMOVE OR DISCONNECT Electric lock release solenoid connector. Connector from lock cylinder, if present. Tie a string to wire harness assembly and pull wire harness out of lid, leaving string completely through lid and hanging out. Two bolts per hinge. Lid assembly with aid of helper. INSTALL OR CONNECT Lid to hinges with aid o fhelper. Two bolts per hinge. TIGHTEN Bolts to 24 N-m (18 lb-ft) Pull wire harness through lid with aid of string and remove string from harness. Connector to lock cylinder, i fpresent. Electric lock release solenoid connector. Adjust lid as necessary. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Adjustment. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. Cadillac Jim
Get the deck lid off first, of course. Note that the torque rods - the hinge springs, in effect - will need to be gently and carefully removed to prevent a dangerous condition when you unbolt the hinges. There are two more bolts on each hinge.
