raz
I own a 2000 STS and need to add some freon. The only fittings i see are on the high side line and they are different sizes. I assume one is for low and the other high pressure but they are only 6 inches apart and on the high side line. I was unable to locate any acess ports on the suction line. Please help i am confused. I am a refrigeration tech but have not serviced any cars since the 1980's. (R-12 days)
Ranger
Those are the service ports. The low side is #4 and the high side is #19. They are separated by the orifice tube (#2) which separates the high and low side. http://www.compnine.com/index.php?u=1&year=2000&artnbr=6K09-037&artsfx=NULL&supplgroup=NULL&catcode=66O&modelcode=K&makecode=K&modelseries=KD&uid=1&modelid=1147577597&capuid=1&majorgroup=09&grouptype=B
joeb
does the high pressure line route next to the receiver/dryer according to the pic? appears that way. my 96 sts has the low press port on the dryer body.
Ranger
The high/low pressure line actually runs on top of the accumulator. The orifice tube is in the line at the coupler and is the transition point from high to low pressure. Your '96 is different. http://www.compnine.com/index.php?u=1&year=1996&artnbr=6M09-049&artsfx=NULL&supplgroup=NULL&catcode=65O&modelcode=K&makecode=K&modelseries=EA&uid=1&modelid=1147577584&capuid=1&majorgroup=09&grouptype=B
