BUICK11 Posted April 3, 2011 Report Share Posted April 3, 2011 As info just received a letter from Cadillac to take our 2008 STS with the 3.6L in for a recall to recalibrate the oil life monitor so that oil changes are closer together. Seems the 1 year or the OLM oil changes will have to be altered to avoid Timing chain breaks. We have until 02/28/2013 to take care of this. joeb Posted April 3, 2011 Report Share Posted April 3, 2011 what is new schedule? i did headgaskets and put very few miles on. went 10 months and <3k miles and my oil bypass stuck open. had to overfill oil to reseat bypass. i changed oil/filter and still had no oil pressure. added 6-8 qts more and rev'd motor and fixed issue. drained fresh excess oil but decided to dump it in my 5 gal oil can.
