firststs
After enjoying 2 years od my 95 STS the 130,000 mile jumped out into the path of an oncoming car resulting in a driver side rear door with a Toyota grill firmly implanted! The car jumped to 2,200 RPM and the brakes could not hold it by te time I realized the car was driving its self it was two late ! The cars Idle speed control wanted to driv me at 50 miles an hour and no LESS ! I would like to know how many people have had this same thing happen ! I researched the problem and everyone said pay $ 150 for a new one !If disconnected the car will only die ! so I bought a nes one and the same thing happened what ever tells the ISC to EXTEND and accelerate , told the new one the same thing ! I broke off the old plunger and installed a sheet metal stop with a machine screw to adjust the idle to 500 rpm problem solved
BodybyFisher
This is the second time you spoke about this accident, your prior post in September spoke of it If the ISC is adjusted properly and the throttle body is clean the system works fine Did you follow the directions to install the ISC in the Factory Service Manual to adjust the idle system?, I know you said your manuals were in storage. Did you do a Re-learn? There is actually a short cut adjustment procedure that we could have given you also.... Where did you get this information>>> "I researched the problem and everyone said pay $ 150 for a new one !If disconnected the car will only die" You were thinking of disconnecting it? Can't fix or adjust it so just disconnect it? haha We would have given you the adjustment procedure for the new ISC. If your engine was surging we could have helped you with that also, you had symptoms before you jumped into traffic. You just don't connect it and EXPECT it to perform correctly it MUST be adjusted, If you do not adjust the system correctly, expect to have problems That Rube Goldberg fix you have is dangerous, please don't post such misinformation on your second post, The engine idle speed (ISC) compensates for speed sensitive steering, quick decelerations, Air conditioning, closed throttle, deceleration, etc, who knows if what you did, by BREAKING off the plunger, LOL... wow, amazing. I guess you sent the new one back? By the way, if you went to www.rockauto.com you could buy a new ISC for $115 Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
