Det brukar finnas ett uttag för 1/2" spärrhandtag för att avlasta (på mina bilar finns det). Men på många bilar så har man glömt den detaljen och då är det besvärligt. En liten kofot brukar vara ett bra hjälpmedel.

Hi guys!

To sum it up I was giving the car some "pre-winter" treatment and the plan was/is to change the serpetine-belt. As Oscar says, there is a 1/2" hole in it but I can´t move it. I tried a spanner in that hole and guess that it sholud move counter-clockwise to release the pressure but no go. Then I tried to put a socket in the center of the tensioner-wheel but all that is happening is that the bolt came loose. I guess I have to give it a go again tomorrow if it should be possible to move it via the "hole" as you state Oscar. Do you remove the battery for easier access ???

Here is a view of the serp belt and tensioner, notice the 1/2" square notch off the pivot point on the tensioner (#6) to put a breaker bar or ratchet handle into

Aha, thanks!

That seems very clear but then I should actually turn it clockwise to relaese it, right?

I will give it a go in the morning, now it´s cold and dark in Sweden !

Hello in Sweden,

Yes, clockwise, look at the tensioner wheel, you want to lift the tensioner wheel off of the belt to release the tension.

You can use this diagram to help you put it on, but I think there is a diagram under the hood.

Start from the bottom use a broom stick to get it on the crank pulley and work your way up, to install it

Regards, Mike

ok! There is nothing to loosen before, it´s just a ratchet in the hole and a serious amount of power ? It feels "frozen" but I might have been a bit too careful since I didn´t knew how to do it !

Nothing to loosen

It should move pretty easily, you obviously will need to use a little muscle...keep in mind that its applying pressure to the belt. Also, I used an 18 inch (45 cm) long breaker bar, so I had a lot of leverage to move against the tension.

And yet it could be frozen or it could be binding, look out for that, if it is, you can put a drop or two of engine oil on the pivot point. Do NOT remove the bolt without removing the belt, you can mess up the threads in the block

You'll get it,

Let us know how this works out

Hi guys!

Worked like a charm !, A bit fiddly but not that bad and the tensioner was fine when I turned it in the right direction :fighting0025:, worked fine with a "momentum-ratchet"(not shoure if that´s the right word for it).

Thanks a bunch!, Per

That is great Per!

Keep in mind that if you flush your cooling system, to keep your heat working good, you can reverse flush your heater core also if your heat is not working good. When a cooling system flush is done, its also good to flush the coolant tank.
